GROWSAFE INTRODUCTORY AND APPROVED HANDLER TO GROWSAFE STANDARD AND CERTIFIED HANDLER
The Approved Handler scheme was replaced by the Certified Handler scheme from 1 December 2017. Certified Handler is now only required if you are using
highly toxic (class 6.1A or B) substances .
Part of the changes relate to the required level of competency, how competency is assessed and the evidence requirements. As a result,
renewal of Certified Handler certificates cannot be completed entirely online. It requires additional evidence of competency such as copies of your tracking records, inventory, spray diaries and emergency plan and may require a site visit. However, the first step is to complete the online requirements for Standard certificate, as you will need a current version of this certificate. You should then contact a
Compliance Certifier offering certified handler certification for agrichemicals and ask what additional evidence they require. Note that requirements may vary between compliance certifiers, so you may wish to contact more than one.
